In my 20’s I learned while working in the office that salespeople earned more. I was told “you have to dress the part to work on the showroom floor. So I became a department store model to obtain the wardrobe and moved into high end sales.
During my first and second divorces I couldn’t afford to keep my cars so during my second divorce I became a Cadillac salesperson to obtain a demo, income, insurance and free gas. The hitch? I had to bring in my own clients. So I used my modeling wardrobe to run print ads in country clubs and paid for the ads with my spousal support checks.
I met and later married Matthew after selling him 2 Cadillacs.
The problem was that the first officiant was an hour late, didn’t let me write my own vows and signed in the wrong area voiding the license. I had to get a new license and hire another officiant.
Matthew has been in real estate all of his life and in 2007-09, lost his business due to the real estate crisis. To save the largest asset we still had, our home, I created Texas Twins Treasures to generate revenue and in 2012 sold the house.
I then created Texas Twins Events to give others the wedding I never had. Making dream events a reality was a hardship due to sad luck stories and hot checks. I traveled everywhere which cost me money for many years in the beginning of Texas Twins Events but was unwilling to fold.
My twin sister, Cindy Daniel and I have been experienced flippers for years and she’s a creative jewelry designer so in 2014-2015 we merged Texas Twins Treasures & Texas Twins Events to create a barter option, The Pawning Planners and filmed a television pilot, Pawning Planners during 2014-2015.
Texas Twins Events welcomed diversity from the inception so we were LBGT friendly from the start. A creative request for a wedding at a prison piqued my interest. I thought it would be the only time that I was ever contacted to perform a ceremony at a correctional facility.
But within 1-2 years I was in prisons during the week and venues on weekends.
Travels of the Texas Twins, an autobiography Cindy and I are working on proves that anyone can overcome if they are committed, determined and perseverant.
