Loncey and Ira Hirsbrunner, A Little Rain? No Problem! Wendy Wortham Officiates During a Thunderstorm

Yesterday, I met this beautiful couple at the bridge near Trinity River that I had decided to gift with cake, champagne, photos and, after standing in a downpour that suddenly came upon us with no warning that included strong winds.

Many of you know that one cannot predict a Texas Thunderstorm and since we were already on the bridge when it happened, I asked if they were okay to continue the planned ceremony. I’m a real trooper kids- weather won’t slow me down one bit!

These good sports were and with photographers Stephanie and Robert Hafele on hand, we had perhaps one of the most interesting weddings I’ve officiated yet.

Soaking wet, we also travelled to the rocky area for more photos before seeking shelter under a canopy where the wedding cake and champagne waited for us to get more photos of the bridal toast and bite of cake.

Afterwards, I invited them to join us at Pappadeux and bought them dinner and a drink along with Robert and Stephanie Hafele where my twin who had been trying to get to the location met up with us.

Rain has never bothered me but, I never expected a storm as sudden and fierce with lightening to ” pop up” that quickly and, while reviewing photos at the restaurant, the couple were as thrilled as I was that the new Fuji cameras I had purchased captured wonderful if not occasionally funny photos of the three of us.

I will update and add these photos as soon as I get them developed.

A wet wedding to remember is good luck and wonderful people with a great sense of humor to enjoy it with was a great experience.
