Volunteering, Sponsoring and Getting Involved is not as Difficult as You May Think Create a Sense of Community Today

When I’m contacted by others seeking to become involved within their community, the first question I ask is what type of volunteer effort interests them.

My reasons for asking is to better direct them at an activity that can or may fuel their passion to do more to enrich the lives of others with their own involvement.

Virginia Malones son, Mark often takes trained dogs into nursing homes and hospitals in Texas to give them attention, hope and joy. You see, being old or ill brings loneliness and struggle.

Everyone has a capacity or certainly a few hours in their week to touch the life of another human being and by doing so, give them the gift of humanity.

Growing up poor taught me early on that the smallest gift of a smile or the sharing of a meal was an important bonding of family, friends and occasionally, strangers.

My aunt Shirley has for years operated a food pantry in Gordon, Texas that also offers personal deliveries by her that feed many home bound people who rely on the kindness of others.

In any capacity on any given day, I not only donate my services, but have also donated furniture and clothing to those who need these things.

Donating to a school field trip for children who cannot afford such luxuries can and will change the course of a child, this is something I’ve done for many years along with my twin sister.

Everywhere you look, despair has touched the life of another, use your own experience or compassion to change the perception of a stranger.

We are all in this together my friend, you can do so many things by simply opening your eyes to the world around you and jumping right in to make a difference!
