Wendy Wortham- The Pawning Planners & The Pawning Process For Dream Events-How I Did It…

It isn’t easy “changing the wedding and events industry one family at a time from Fort Worth, Texas!”  The Pawning Process involves some sweat and tears from my “twinning team” and hilarious sidekick sister, Cindy Daniel.

Cindy can put a “redneck reality” spin on anything and everything we do throughout the Travels of the Texas Twins mainly because I’m the stiff and serious half of my twins “flying by the seat of her pants” take it as it comes version of getting the job done! Pawning Planners take trades for services and often have hilarious adventures in the wedding and events industry!

Personalities of the Pawning Planners/Texas Twins Events Team are remarkably different for these two sets of Texas Twins with Cindy being fun loving and me being serious most of the time with my OCD personality and quest for perfection. Texas Twins Events

Our Little Pawners, Maryssa and Makenna Mahaney are involved in every aspect of all of my businesses and mirror our personalities with Makenna Marie (left) mirroring my personality of perfection and Maryssa Ann (right) flying by the seat of her pants and more interested in having fun than working.  Cindy and Maryssa make any job more fun with their unique ability to have a good time no matter what is going on.

I spend a lot of time looking for a spot here or uneven paint there and often go to the trouble of taking apart a floral design if I’m not 100% satisfied with the finished product.

My son, Robert Hafele (left) is serious too and his wife Stephanie leans towards the “fun” of the wedding and events industry travels of these Texas Twins.

Even I can get an occasional laugh from my rowdy Texas Twins Team because let’s face it- the unique combination of personalities around here can get a laugh out of even a serious person like myself and my family is a lot of fun.

Transforming a Karate Studio Into a Wedding Venue

Execution of a Dream Event for families with a limited budget or no income takes a lot of planning to get the execution perfect while pinching pennies.

But, if you “watch every nickel” while doing as much of the work “in house” as possible- you can effectively “pull it off” with hard work and a dedicated team.  I guess you could say that I created a business to address the needs of low to middle income consumers by involving my entire family to help me accomplish the goal of a Dream Event.

And while we have minor “squabbles” and disagreements over the execution of “flipping” items, we overcome opinions with the “bossy leader” ie:me giving the orders on what color to paint the item or what fabric will look best and sell for more money.  Taking trades for services can be a bit risky when you aren’t certain of what the item will sell for and having a background of selling high end products is key to our success.

My twin sister, Cindy Daniel and I appraise everything prior to making a commitment because we have a general idea of the market for trades.  The Little Pawners are far more interested in tips and flips of electronic games and accessories when they are acting as flower girls or ring bearers at our events.

Creating a business based on families who had nowhere else to turn for a Dream Event four years ago took dedication and sacrifice but it also took my family and I on adventures with laughs and tears of new friends who came to us with nothing and told us the story of why their event was important to them.  Lisa Williams wanted her grandfather to have an opportunity to walk her down the aisle- this team of twins found a way to make her Dream a reality and while there were setbacks (Cindy lost the flower baskets) and created a new #Cindyism upon realizing our family pet and mascot Foxy Wortham had marked the rose petals “this karate studio went from smelling like a nursing home to a whorehouse!” After I sprayed perfume to mask the scent or when my son, Robert Hafele told me “this story is finally coming together!”

My brother in law, Steve Daniel asked “what book are you reading!”  The wedding cake table collapsing and everything else in between going wrong had me breaking down in tears at the 11th hour and making an “emergency call” to my husband, Matthew Wortham upon realizing we had left the crystal champagne flutes and champagne at WorthamWorld- we pulled it off!  We did this as a team dedicated to giving Lisa and Terry their Dream along with hundreds of other families because their stories mattered to me and I’m committed to giving the gift of hope from Fort Worth.

Anything worth doing will never be easy, the road travelled will be memorable and often amusing with two sets of twins from Texas.
