Who Wouldn’t Love a Romantic Retro/Vintage Wedding?!
Are you planning a vintage themed event? I love costume and what better way to dress up than at your wedding? After all, you are the star!
Keeping a bold red lip and not going “Over the top with a spray tan” are critical to achieving this look. Long hair can have retro styled waves or a windswept up do vibe.
Your wedding dress is perhaps one of the most effective ways to consolidate this theme. Fashion can be iconic for retro weddings with either an A-like skirt or slim belt around your waist, lace is always effective to transcend time and tiny, fragile buttons with a prolonged sleeve give you a vintage feel.
Your bouquet should be neat and smaller scaled (no cascading or waterfall bridal type designs.) adding feathers or pearls and flattering old broaches can make your bouquet ornamental and I often incorporate porcelain flowers when doing the floral designs for Texas Twins Events.
White gloves are a must! Finding some with tiny buttons can be a challenge, but a challenge I’m certain worth overcoming. Fashionable lace up type boots and adding feathers to your hair piece or pearls and even using a hate as opposed to a traditional veil adds an element of sophistication.
If you are marrying during winter months, you can drape a fur (faux or a “something old” borrow from friend or family member) around your shoulders to compliment your dress or long sleeved bolero. Remember, bows are your best friend at vintage themed events!
