Wedding Woes- Overcoming The Unexpected With Wendy Wortham…

Four years ago when I decided to dive headfirst into the wedding and events industry, I had spent some twenty five years in the sales and customer service industry and felt “prepared” for anything- I was wrong.

You see, the “Wedding Dress Fiasco” of my niece, Leigh Ann Blais was nearly a complete disaster that was saved only by my sheer determination to find a dress that fit after she had waited three months for a dress she ordered only to find it was the wrong size.  Driving both of our suv’s here there and everywhere to find the “perfect dress” was a harrowing adventure for my twin sister, Cindy Daniel and I but (as usual), it was one that we succeeded in overcoming (like so many other disasters.

When I’m asked about “the most embarrassing” or, “the most memorable” wedding or event experience- there are too many to count but, with my saucy sidekick twin sister Cindy and her McGyver like skills at overcoming any issue along with my multigenerational Texas Twins Events Team, we have averted the many unforeseen last minute disasters of the wedding industry by effectively “flying by the seat of our pants” on occassion.

While Cindy and I have been addressing your questions on my YouTube channel, we are now on Periscope (I’m @TexasTwins2 and Cindy is @Texastwins2004), and broadcasting LIVE from our events and adventures and will also be addressing your questions on Periscope.

From the bouquet that fell off the balcony of the Worthington while taking wedding photos (truly a disaster!) and my “quick fix” of asking the bridesmaids to “hand over their lace panties” in order for my to build up the bouquet and secure with my ever present hot glue gun and duct tape to getting lost em route to a remote venue, our adventures have sometimes been unexpectedly funny to my loyal readers.

Joanna Magee Dream Event
It’s well known that if I can find a wedding dress on sale or at a resale shop, I buy it in order to have a dress to loan brides on a budget and overcome the issue of trying to afford purchasing one for struggling families.  I will be adding a new blog to share with you our adventures of the Pawning Planners “Pawning Process” by writing about the trades I take and refurbish for sale to recover expenses at Texas Twins Treasures in the near future Texas Twins Treasures Refurbished Items Taken In Trade For Wedding and Event Services the refurbish process on antiques is often a lengthy process and the main reason that I can’t take furniture on a short window event.

Texas Twins Treasures will offer tshirts, caps and coffee cups to find families who have no money or anything that we can trade to give you the opportunity to sponsor a family while having a Texas Twins Treasure to keep for your own use.

Wedding at WorthamWorld Elopement Package With Cake & Champagne
My ever popular Elopement Package is back again by popular demand for folks who can’t afford a wedding venue for up to 10 people and includes cake, champagne, complimentary photos and officiating your ceremony for $275.

“We travel baby!”  Need us to come to you?  We do that too, inside the DFW area there is no travel charge to keep your costs low.  Building a business on people over profit does require a travel fee is you are outside Dallas/Fort Worth due to wear and tear in our vehicles.

Over four hundred happy families after starting this business, we’ve had our fair share of surprises but we work as a team to overcome the torn hem, the broken tooth, the destroyed bouquet, and everything in between.  Of course, looking back on something that was horrific at the time and overcome has given my staff and I the ability to contribute each of our unique skills and taught us to be resilient with the focus being on the overall execution of your Dream Event.  Sometimes, flying by the seat of our pants is a requirement but it’s one that we’ve learned to excel at while laughing at my twin sisters classic #Cindyism observations that will be featured on the Texas Twins Treasures TShirts, Coffee Cups and Hats.  As I prepare to meet a bride who will be donating her dress in order to have someone who can’t afford to buy her own dress an opportunity to “shine” on her special day, I realize that giving the gift of a Dream Event has accomplished my goal of others sharing my vision to change the wedding and events industry one family at a time from Fort Worth, Texas and I wouldn’t want it any other way! Sometimes I’m required to be creative and with my staff on hand to jump in- we are off on another adventure with two sets of Texas Twins…
