This past Friday and Saturday after using a uhaul rental to empty two storage units Virginia had paid on for nearly thirty years, my partner, Cindy Daniel and myself loaded everything up and organized a liquidation event at my home due to the amount of traffic we have on Byers, it is the best location I’ve ever had to host a large a large estate sale liquidation.
I often rent tables and clothing racks to help organize items and we post photos of the items on FB, Twitter & Instagram to generate interest.
The amount of time and effort involved to do a large event is astounding! Bringing our Little Pawners, Maryssa and Makenna Mahaney in to sell drinks and refreshments it was quickly realized that our young entrepreneurs have quickly gotten involved in the art of selling along with myself and my twin. The Little Pawners also love going to Appraisal Appointments with us and searching for a treasure. They “work” at weddings and events as flower girls, ring bearers & ushers and plan to start studying photography.
A hurdle in the liquidation business is “holding items” in the hopes the customer will return and purchase the “held” items. Often this is NOT the case, because I miss a sale by holding the item and because of this, I do not offer layaway on verbal agreement.
Maryssa and Makenna Mahaney kept their lemonade and cookie stand moving along throughout the sale and even helped model items to post on our social sites to generate traffic.
While packing up the unsold items to dash off to my next sponsored event for Kimberly Stines bday party in Garland (a one and a half hour commute) a young mother returned to the sale to inquire what we were planning to do with left over items and left with a carload of the unsold items for her family donated by me, Cindy and Virginia Malone. The gratitude expressed cannot be put into words by this young mother! It should be noted that truly deserving families of our generosity are far more grateful than those who are not and I’m quick to recognize and realize the difference.
The success of yet another Texas Twins Liquidation Event was through hard work and determination but, the savings of Virginia by not paying rent on her storage unit was worth it to her and to us.
