The Texas Twins Encourage You To Support Local Food Pantries and Community Outreach Programs

As most of you know, I have always donated to area food pantries and all of our children and grand children have as well.

During trying economic times, many North Texans count on pantries and churches for a hot meal this holiday season.

The Community Church pantry was 1700 turkeys short two days before Thanksgiving but, with the help of social media- we were able to meet the needs of neighbors and families across the DFW metroplex.

I think it’s important for children to appreciate the things in life often taken for granted such as a hot meal or warm bed.

Our mini Texas Twins, Maryssa and Makenna Mahaney always look forward to distributing clothing and toys to needy families and meeting new friends at area pantries.

Today at the Petro Truck Stop they saw a Toys for Tots box and had me buy 2 toys to drop in, they pointed out that there weren’t many toys- not knowing the box is emptied by the cashier, lol so we went back to buy more. Compassion for others is the greatest gift we have taught all of our children.

The Pythian Home in Weatherford houses many Parker County children and always appreciates donations from local residents.

If you would like to get involved with helping others in your area, there is no better time to start than now- contact your neighborhood Meals on Wheels or a local nursing home or church. Sweeping the front porch in your own community is a great place to get started. Do you know of an elderly neighbor that may need help with errands? Or, a hot meal? Go introduce yourself. Building stronger communities will bring your neighborhood together.

Do you have sleeping bags or coats that you no longer need? Area shelters are always in need of blankets, sleeping bags, umbrellas and coats during the winter season.

Together, we can help those who have lost their jobs, suffered wage cuts or exhausted their unemployment.

I don’t believe anyone chooses to be unemployed, reach back and help the person behind you to get up and get back into the workforce. Network with friends and associates for that friend or neighbor seeking employment.

Our community is one when we come together as one, appreciate what we have, and finally share when we can with others, giving thanks to The Lord for what we have.

Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving from Wal Mart in Lake Worth, Tx.
