Little Pawners- Maryssa and Makenna Mahaney Travel To Camp Grady For A 3 Day Adventure…

Many of us never had the opportunity to go off to a summer camp and have always wanted to and I’m one of them.

Yesterday, Maryssa and Makenna headed off with friends from Austin Elementary for their first trip away from home as my twin and I worried whether or not they would have a good time.  Camp Grady Spruce Austin Elementary Makenna & Maryssa Mahaney video was filmed by a camp mother who attended as a volunteer Website For Camp Grady Spruce gives many options for families seeking a weekend getaway.  From archery to fishing to horseback riding and hiking- the kids were kept pretty busy on their excursion.  Makenna loved every minute but Maryssa isn’t the adventure type and also had problems sleeping while at camp.

Cindy and I expected a call to pick the girls up the minute they left- we never got a call and assumed they were having loads of fun and although Maryssa was homesick- she did actually hand fun canoeing and horseback riding.  A few hours after arriving, our “camp spy” a mother who is on site, sent us photos of the kids having a great time.

Their three day adventure will give them opportunities to learn archery and horseback riding.

My husband Matthew hated his experience at Camp Carter and even today, remembers vividly his moment of horror upon learning his parents had left and weren’t coming back!  Matthew spent three days horrified of using a public bathroom and missing the regularity of his home life.  Camp isn’t for everyone ya all!  My son hated his experience too and told me he was unable to sleep or eat because he wanted to come home.

It’s too bad there isn’t an “adult camp” for all of the adults who missed the opportunity to attend camp as children or, who had a horrific experience.

Maryssa is far less outgoing than Makenna which ironically, mirrors my twin sister Cindy and I with compensating personality traits.

We are hoping when we drive to Possom Kingdom tomorrow to pick the twins up after their big adventure camping and learning a few new outdoor activities at Camp Grady.

Giving children an opportunity to learn about the outdoors and enjoy themselves was important for us since the girls were so excited about this opportunity.

Cindy is planning to get a video interview of their experience to add to our YouTube channel which should be interesting.

I was betting that Makenna loved it and Maryssa didn’t but twinning traits can sometimes surprise even me with Maryssa loving it and Makenna hating it.

With two sets of twins in our family and spending as much time as we do together- every adventure with my family is memorable!

With two sets of twins, our adventure never ends as we look forward to our next Dream Event this Saturday.
Update: Picking the twins up today, Maryssa wouldn’t let go of me and cried (I was right) “I missed you and I missed being at home with our family!”  Makenna proceeded to tell us of all of their adventures and what a great time she had.

I asked Maryssa if she wanted to go back for another visit next year and was told “only if you come too because camp is far more fun when your parents go with you.”
