#Cindyism “You Can’t Make Gravy Outta Water!” Cooking With The Pawning Planners…

Since we provide low cost and no cost services and ceremonies for families and I don’t think a ceremony is complete without cake and champagne, my GingerTwin Cindy Daniel and I tried to bake a wedding cake ourselves at my home aka WorthamWorld with disastrous results.   

We are terrible bakers and my husband has 6 fire extinguishers located throughout our home “just in case” Wendy And Cindy- Baking A Cake? Shows how terrible our made from scratch cake really was, even our family pet Foxy Wortham wouldn’t eat it. #Cindyism “some folks can’t tell the difference between baking soda and gun powder” translation: just because you have all the ingredients doesn’t mean it will be a tasty treat!

I answer a lot of questions as to how and why I created three unique and diverse businesses in order to give ANYONE the opportunity for a beautiful event. 

  

  

  

My answer is as complicated as you can imagine since I started Texas Twins Events to offer low cost services and ceremonies not realizing that many families contacting me had no money.

Learning how to refurbish furniture was a necessity after my husband lost his land development job and was unemployed for three years.  To “get by” I sold all of our expensive furniture and used folding chairs until I could find replacement pieces at yard sales and thrift stores that I stained and refinished which is why my home is furnished with Texas Twins Treasures pieces.  A tour of a few rooms of my home was posted to my YouTube site recently for a client wanting to use it as a venue WorthamWorld- My Home Doubles As A Wedding Venue.   You see to “flip” and refurbish items, I needed to know how to do it myself to save money and, had a twenty year history of top sales in the high end home furnishings industry under my belt.  With this knowledge and the need to raise money for wen development and advertising, I started my own site for Texas Twins Treasures Visit My Treasure Chest At Texas Twins Treasures!

  Using my home as a venue never occured to me but, my home office is located here and clients LOVED the unique leaded glass windows, funky furniture and chandeliers along with a long travertine hallway.  For folks with no money to pay for a venue- the idea worked out great! 

 This home is perhaps 50 years old of more but offers several places for photo ops including a long balcony and ornate wrought iron stairwell.  Everyone loves to “pose” in front of this decorative dining room window.

Since I already had Texas Twins Events and Texas Twins Treasures-I blended them both and using my product knowledge, started taking trades.  Knowing the value of items and what is necessary to bring them back to life again and make the trade marketable is key to my success with The Pawning Planners We Take Trades!  Involving my entire family was never planned either but they recognized how important what I was doing actually was for the families who came to me.

Changing the wedding and events industry one family at a time hasn’t been easy but with commitment and elbow grease- I’ve successfully helped over 400 families with a wedding, birthday party, pawning party, estate liquidation, funeral baptism and more because I was willing to work for less than my competitors and occasionally- for free.

Passion drives me to do more and trying to make a wedding cake was just another dip into finding ways to save my clients money even if it didn’t work out.

Can’t never could but at least we know to focus on the things we are good at and even if baking isn’t one of them, we gave it a shot ya all.
