Are the Texas Twins Eccentric? After Being Compared to Auntie Mame, Perhaps We Are!
I loved the movie and watched it several times myself. The iconic costumes, the dramatic flair and, the unforgettable quotes. After all, opening windows to the world, crossing all borders and barriers while improving the lives of others while remaining fashionable, funny, outgoing, spirited, optimistic and elegant can’t be all bad!
“Life is a banquet” can certainly define ones outlook on life. With the remarkable ability to find humor in nearly any crisis giving an indication to the sometimes unexpected and most assuredly unanticipated mishaps that often occur at weddings and events that my twin sister, Cindy Daniel has accompanied me to, her humor and my perseverance have overcome any objective that we have ever encountered.
Perception is everything and, it begins with your attitude. Those who have achieved great things have done so by often taking great risks.
Living life to it’s fullest is a dream we all can achieve. I choose to do so with a dash of humor and a dab of style 🙂
One day I hope to open a storefront for Texas Twins Treasures to showcase our unique creations and designs for home furnishings, clothing, jewelry and accessories. Creating something amazing from the “bones” up requires a creative insight from the designer whether it be myself on antiques or Cindy on jewelry, headbands and tutus or, a vintage treasure we found in the rubble on one of our great adventures.
Are we flamboyant? Maybe. We love wild clothing and personally, I love to dress up while Cindy does not. My sister believes that as a photographer and my assistant, clothing should be both comfortable and casual since after all, I am in the limelight- not her (I’m frequently advised) at our functions. However, she can sometimes surprise me by showing up in a flamboyant outfit and stylish accessories- the key you see, is that her decision to do so was hers and not mine!
Choosing clothing for each other would prove a disaster for both of us, you see our taste and styles are remarkably different for twins often have opposite views and, although we are identical twins, we don’t and cannot choose clothing for each other with positive results as our tastes and opinions are incredibly not, identical.
Although we both love and enjoy David Lee Roths outrageous clothing choices and his videos depicting what would in today’s society be referred to as “Wal Mart Shoppers” extras on The Ice Cream Man video and more, this doesn’t mean we would consider ourselves capable of pulling off such “looks.” Having said this however, I would love to own some of his fantastic outfits!
Cyndi Lauper, Cher, Madonna, Gwen Stefani and Liberace as well as Elvis all made creative fashion decisions that changed the design industry with bold choices and character.
Whether you realize it or not, clothing can change your mood and lift your spirit by adding a jazzy accessory-too little attention is paid to proper attire these days when websites like “The People of Wal Mart” show the rampant bad decisions of shoppers who apparently didn’t “check themselves” prior to leaving home! Alas, surely I not alone in hoping that one day we can go to a public place WITHOUT seeing someone’s boxer shorts , butt crack, boobs or fat rolls? Men dressed in half women half men ensembles, thongs sticking out of the jeans on tattoo riddled consumers “shopping smart to save money” have become a trademark of WalMart. While they may be shopping smart- rest assured that the rest of us are “shopping shocked!”
I’ve seen so many body parts that are intended to be “covered” that I often cover the tiny Texas Twins eyes and whisper “Don’t look Ethel” one of my favorite lines from the song titled “The Streak.”
Auntie Mame is another story altogether as Cindy and I both would wear most any outfit she wore in the movie and, both love them! The pantsuits with coordinating jackets, the amazing hats and accessories.
Why not? Fun with fashion has always been something that interests us both and, these days “stepping it up a bit” wouldn’t be too outrageous since sequins are now widely worn during daylight hours. Bedazzle me baby!
Eccentric? Maybe but, fashion can be fun ya all! These Texas Twins have no problem with making a “fashion statement or two” better that than flashing everybody.
