A Nondenominational Minister? Why I’m Not Affiliated With A Specific Religion..

Throughout my life I’ve been a member of Episcapalian, Baptist and Methodist Churches along with visits to several other religious sectors.  

I’ve also been to Bible School at several different denominations and am a Christian with no particular religion because I choose to live my life as a Christian and help families who come to me with a desire for a Dream Event with little or no money, I’m often asked what religion I practice.

This question is often asked by a guest at events and I’m accustomed to answering without any discourse because my life is spent volunteering and helping others.  I live in the “Bible Belt” and because of this, am often confronted regarding LBGTQ unions or marriages.

I’m kind to everyone I meet and believe that love is love regardless of whether the couple is a man and a woman or an LBGTQ couple.

Calling me non Christian simply because I cater to an interesting mix of clients is an offensive statement to me because my belief is that by treating everyone else as I would like to be treated myself is important to me and because my generosity speaks for itself.

From volunteering at soup kitchens to helping expectant mothers, my family and I have donated our time and our money to help those less fortunate.

Giving without receiving isn’t “customary” these days with everyone proclaiming that unless you are in church every Wednesday and Sunday or a member at a certain church, you are failing you faith, prey on you with guilt.  My time on Sunday’s is often spent helping families or donating my time to help others.

What is Evangelism?  It is the preaching of the gospel or the practice of giving information about a particular doctrine or set of beliefs  to others with the intention of converting others to the Christian Faith.

This term is not restricted to any particular Christian tradition, and should not be confused with Evangelicalism, a common term for a wide range of “Evangelical” Protestant churches or groups.

Christians who specialize in evangelism are often known as evangelists, whether they are in their home communities or living as missionaries in the field, although some Christian traditions refer to such people as missionaries in either case.  Some Christian traditions consider evangelists to be in a leadership position; they may be found preaching to large groups or in governance roles.

What is an ordained Minister?  A person who decides to become a Minister may undergo several process to become ordained.  Ordination is the preparation people undergo in order to be a Minister or Wedding Officiant or Celebrant and perform certain religious rituals and ceremonies affiliated with the church.

What if you don’t want any “Religious References” during your wedding or other religious ceremony?  Please advise me of this prior to the ceremony and I will make changes to traditional Christian readings.

I hope this clarifies my role and why I’m not affiliated with a particular religion or sect.

While I find the history of religion to be interesting, everyone has their own views and opinions related to church attendance and occasionally find themselves needing to describe their beliefs to myself or my team.

We do not discuss religion or politics at events for a very basic reason- everyone has their own views and feel strongly about them.
